“The time has come for man to realize that he is not body alone. He is a breathing being and a thinking being too – a unique individual made up of complex emotions, appetites and desires.”

Swami Rama, “A Practical Guide to Holistic Health”

The word “holistic” is derived from the Greek root “holos” which means whole, total,  entire, complete. Integration of the whole, i.e. biology + physiology + psychology + philosophy can be accomplished by cultivating the body, breath, senses, mind, emotions and soul. More important than physical health is mental health and more important than mental health is spiritual health.

Happiness is our birthright but happiness eludes us because we seek happiness in all  the wrong places, chasing that which is subject to change, death and decay, namely wealth, position and power. We have not cultivated the art of living. We have to develop a sound philosophy of life and regulate our emotions, thoughts and actions accordingly.

The purpose of this 3-day course is to provide guidance in developing such a holistic philosophy which integrates body, breath, emotions, intellect and spirit. The course will explore diet and nutrition, exercise (aerobic and yogasanas), good habits of breathing, understanding and regulating our emotions, systematic relaxation and meditation for personality transformation.
