Dates: February 26 – March 1, 2026

“Prana is the life principle, the dynamic or working force in human beings and in all life forms. It is the power which is the support of the body and all its moving life forces…..
Greater consciousness, light, wisdom and truth, which are all pervading but latent are awakened by regulating the motion of the pranic vehicles.”

Swami Rama, Path of Fire and Light, Vol. 1

The main source of recorded knowledge on Swara Yoga comes from the Shiva Swarodaya. Shiva is the supreme consciousness. Swara is the breath flow and udaya means waking or rising.

The Swarodaya is an esoteric tantric text, which deals with the science of breath, the tattvas and the chakras. This text extols the significance of the different types of pranic rhythms and how the movement of prana can be controlled by manipulation of the breath. Mastery of Prana, becomes mastery of mind, and mastery of mind becomes mastery of life.

Swarodaya ultimately teaches that breath is the secret script of the cosmos, a living predictor that reveals fate, time, health, and spiritual direction. Ancient yogis used the science for spiritual advancement, prosperity, timing important actions, and gaining insight to subtle energies. Actions performed under the appropriate swara yield auspicious results. By aligning with the cosmic breath, one moves from ordinary awareness to clarity, purpose and inner awakening.

Swara Yoga, however, should not be confused with pranayama, which involves a different aspect of the breath. Swara Yoga emphasizes the significance of different pranic rhythms, whereas pranayama involves techniques to store and control prana.
