Dates: November 26-December 4, 2026
This 9-day residential program is designed to introduce the participant to the basic practices of our tradition as taught by Swami Rama.
The foundation of this retreat will be the books “Meditation and It’s Practice” and “Art of Joyful Living” by Swami Rama.
From Meditation and its Practice:
In order to meditate you will need to learn:
· How to relax the body
· How to sit in a comfortable, steady position for meditation
· How to make your breathing process serene
· How to calmly witness the objects traveling in the train of your mind
· How to introspect
· How to remain centered and undisturbed
We will acquire these skills through our practices of makarasana, joints & glands exercises, diaphragmatic breathing, even breathing, 2:1 breathing, the spinal breathing, alternate nostril breathing, application of sushumna, relaxation and meditation practices, which we we offer in our daily guided classes and individualized instruction in yoga science with the aim to gradually gain independence to eventually be able to do a complete self-guided systematic meditation practice at home.
During the course of this retreat we will also explore several topics to know how to live joyfully. It includes exploring how to live positively, learning to transform and purify habit patterns and negative emotions, perfecting your personality, how to transcend desires and old stories, how to develop strength, willpower, and intuition, how to have loving relationships and how to meditate so that we can discover the eternal joy that is at the core of your being.
There is also enough personal time for self-study and for walks along the Ganges.
Three vegetarian meals are provided daily.
